The ERT3 program “Mera me Chroma” presented innovative tablet-based game software intended for children with hearing impairments, as well as speech, language and communication disorders, aiming to enhance their language skills. The applications were developed by a member of the EMEPEK laboratory in collaboration with Ms. Areti Okalidou, Professor of Speech-Language Pathology.
The software utilizes modern technological capabilities to strengthen and modernize speech therapy interventions, functioning in a supportive and auxiliary way to the speech-language pathologist’s work. Through these tools, the child’s progress can be constantly measured and evaluated, leading to more effective and targeted speech therapy outcomes.
Several speech therapy activities of the EMEPEK laboratory are conducted in partnership with the departments of Medicine and English Literature of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki through the inter-institutional postgraduate program “Master of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences” of our University.
The long-term use of these tools has generated significant statistical data that contribute to research on speech therapy issues, highlight the importance of bridging scientific research and academic knowledge with the needs of professional practice and promote academic discourse on modern developments in the field of Speech Therapy.
