The volume “The Oxford Handbook of Speech Development in Languages of the World” has been published!

Dr. Areti Okalidou, Professor of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Macedonia, and Dr. Elena Babatsouli, Associate Professor and Blanco-BORSF Endowed Professor in Communicative Disorders at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, USA, contributed to the publication of The Oxford Handbook of Speech Development in Languages of the World by co-authoring Chapter 40: Greek (Standard) speech development. The volume was edited by Dr. Sharynne McLeod, Distinguished Professor of Speech and Language Acquisition at Charles Sturt University, Australia, and is the product of a collective academic partnership among 173 authors. This international scientific team contributed to mapping children’s speech development across 80 chapters covering 49 languages and 27 dialects, including companion audio files of children and adult speakers, language maps, and pronunciation guides.

The official launch took place at the International Clinical Phonetics and Linguistics Association (ICPLA) conference, held at the University of Patras on June 26th, 2025.
